The Detroit Red Wings will lose forward Johan Franzen to the short-term IR list as he has suffered concussion like symptoms.
Wings placed Franzen on short-term IR (seven days), which creates a roster spot for Helm, who probably won't be ready this weekend.

Franzen was trying to make a comeback this season after missing nearly all of the 2014-2015 season with a concussion after a blind side hit. Franzen has said that at times during the summer, there were days that he could not get out of bed. The belief is that Franzen's career would likely be over if he suffered another concussion. In two games for the Red Wings this season, franzen has one assist.
